Rolling hills is a magical place. It was end of summer 2025. I had just introduced my college buddy to the sport that summer and more days than not rolling hills would would find us with a disc in one hand and the dream of an ace in the other. A random Tuesday rolled around and the curved fairways of Rolling hills had beckoned us. I step up to the tee box tucked into the bushes defining hole 5 with my yellow understable cicada in hand. I thought that throw was a shank. Then the disc began to turn. Our breaths held as that yellow disc flashed in the golden sun, its trajectory fading towards the basket. I can still hear the metallic ring and subsequent shouts of ecstasy heralding my first ace. It’s the course that decides when you find magic. And if you are lucky Rolling hills will choose you.
