Chillicothe’s best offering if you’re looking to work on your game with as little external complicating factors as possible. Only course around here where you don’t have to worry about losing your disc in a pond, hunting in the woods, getting chewed up by foliage, or have to obsess during tick season. Pros: -Large variety of shot distances, what this course lacks in technicality or shot-shaping it makes up for with getting to throw several more discs from your bag than you may be used to at a given open-style course. -Flattest course in Chillicothe by far. Hikes are fun but if you aren’t in the mood you’re looking at one steep walk downhill on hole 18 and besides that not a ton to worry about. -Typically isn’t extremely busy, and because of the openness and lack of hazards you can usually take your time and shoot multiple shots on a lot of the holes without worrying about having to become Indiana Jones hunting for your practice shots in the woods. Cons: -While you aren’t looking at a hike, you will be dealing with a long walk. Hole 15 to 16 takes a minute, and when you finish on hole 20 you aren’t a mile away from your car but you aren’t 5 feet away either. -Signage could be better. Mostly turf pads and a red block denote tee areas so a first-timer will need to stick to the UDisc map to navigate. -Biggest con is no fault of the course, VA Campus hosts the Chillicothe Paints, an independent league baseball team, and the stadium is behind holes 10 and 11. That part of the course is used for parking overflow, so especially during evening games in the summer holes 10-13 and sometimes even 14 are 100% unplayable, so if you’re visiting it’s worth it to check the Paints schedule online to see if you’ll be able to play the whole course, in my opinion 10 and 11 are 2 of the better holes so it would be a bummer to miss out on those. Overall, I really enjoy this course. I wouldn’t recommend it over Paint Creek or Great Seal if you’re looking for the destination courses in the county, but if you’re looking for a chill spot to iron out your game this is the place.
