I was in Champaign/Urbana with a Saturday morning to kill, so thought I would take the short drive to Danville to try the course. Reviews were generally good, but the “too many meth heads” comment struck me as odd. Overall, a nice course. Not a lot of shot variations and the last holes are just wide open bombers. Throwing over the “river” was fun. No real danger of losing a disc to the water on any whole. I got there at 9 AM on a Saturday. The gate to the park was unlocked but only a quarter opened. I said why not, opened the gate and drove in. I had the park to myself and it is pretty. As I played, a few cars started to come into the park. I assumed golfers or folks there for a walk…. But they just parked on the side of the road and did not get out of their cars. A couple were just parked in the grass near 15 and 16 - it was a little disconcerting. I played around them and they did not get out. As I finished my round, I saw more cars parked with people in them, just sitting there. As I left the park, there was a parking lot just before the gate - same thing. Multiple cars parked with people in them. Meth users? Dunno. No one bothered me. But it was weird.
