About the course

Summersville Lake Disc Golf Course This 18 hole course is conveniently located at Mountain Lake Campground on the rim of Summersville Lake, and is only 2 minutes off of RT.19 North/South. (1898 Summersville Airport Road Summersville, WV 26651) The course is a mix of park style holes with shapeable fairways, and technical wooded holes. There are short and long concrete tees for each hole on the course, as well as short and long pin positions, and signage. Baskets are white Innova DiscCatchers. Parking for the course is directly across from Hole 1. Mountain Lake Campground (www.mountainlakecampground.com) offers a plethora of lodging and camping options, as well as a General Store within walking distance of the Disc Golf Parking lot. There are food and beverage options available as well as discs and merchandise for sale. The course offers a challenge to all types of players and is a nice mix of elevation and distance. I’m torn between a 3.75 and a 4 but I can’t do a 3.75. This course is challenging it’s meant to be. It plays in the mountains for Pete’s sake haha. I think some of the pars should be reconsidered 10 definitely should be a 5 unless it gets a massive design change. A couple others could be 4s. Overall though the design is there the shot shaping is there and yes it’s tough. You won’t shoot 10 down here you will be content with even. The signage is being improved and the pink ribbon helps quite a bit. Not a destination disc golf course but definitely a challenge if you’re in the area.

Not as bad as what some other reviews are saying in my opinion. Some really cool shots from the shorts, along with some very difficult birdies. Hole 15 is a really cool par 4, however beware of the drop off to the right. I saw a a lot of broken glass down there. I am not the greatest player but I would say if you are < 890 or a beginner you may not have a great time out here.
